AP Physics/Math Teacher position

About this job

Currently seeking individual who has a passion for teaching, and a wealth of knowledge and experience working with high school students for a campus that is in IR status.

A successful upper school Math/Physics teacher will:

  • Demonstrate a passion and expertise in teaching all levels of Math and AP Physics; ability to teach the full range of the high school mathematics curriculum through Calculus

  • Ability to teach both introductory Physics as well as AP Physics

  • Be confident in the use of technology in the classroom to engage learners

  • Contributes to a learning culture by participating on curriculum and department specific task forces

  • Foster the well-being of students in the upper school by both challenging and supporting them



Duties

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Mentoring approximately 10 Upper School girls (academic counseling, community building, parent communication, conferencing)

  • Engagement in the life of the Upper School (presence at assemblies, events, etc.)

  • Chaperoning/supervisory duties approximately three times during camp

  • Participation in the camp’s departmental, divisional team meetings

  • A degree in Mathematics or Physics, Bachelor minimum, Masters preferred

  • The ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum; a highly competent teacher

  • A knowledge of adolescent development and effective classroom practice for the high school classroom

  • The ability to build positive relationships with high school students; a powerful student mentor

  • The ability to draw people in for collaboration and problem solving; a trusted and sought-after colleague

  • High-level of familiarity and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives

  • Familiarity and competence in technology skills

  • Superb communication skills

  • Energy and initiative

 

 

Positions begins June 10, 2013 – July 3, 2013, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Thursday.

 

Must be certified in Texas, with teaching experience. Must pass background check and submit resume.
