General Overview:
Under the direction of the 21st Century Coordinator, the Recreation Leader will implement recreation activities, e.g. organized games/physical activities, dance, martial arts, sports, etc. with groups of up to 20 students.
·    Provide opportunities for students to do well and find enjoyment in recreation activities, develop and strengthen recreation and social skills, and support school day success.
·    Work as a member of a team to implement age appropriate after school learning and recreation/enrichment activities.

Qualifications:
·    Minimum of two years college, AA degree, or passage of district competency test
·    One year experience working with youth of various cultures in an organized setting
·    English proficiency
·    Health Screening/TB Clearance
·    Background/Fingerprint Clearance
Pay:
$10-$18/hour
After school hours are typically between the end of the school day until 6pm, Monday through Friday.



Duties

 Duties and Responsibilities:
·    Create and deliver recreation-based lesson plans and activities
·    Provide general supervision of students during the after school program during snack time, homework, recreation, and transitions
·    Facilitate activities and transitions
·    Assist and support after school Program Leaders and instructors as needed
·    Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events
·    Instruct students on the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment
·    Implement discipline techniques and classroom management
·    Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facilities and equipment
·    Inspect the school site and the equipment for potential safety hazards; taking corrective action to prevent injuries
·    Interact professionally and appropriately with parents, teachers and school staff.
·    Participate in school site staff meetings and on-going training opportunities
·    Comply with all HISD policies and procedures
·    Perform related duties as assigned
